Senegal 8 days motorcycle tour itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival to Dakar/Saly.

Most flights from Europe arrive at Dakar airport in the evening. You will be met on arrival at Dakar airport by our airport transfer representatives who will transfer you from the airport to Saly on the outskirts of Dakar in Somone which is the ideal starting point of our motorcycle tour the following morning. You will spend the night in a comfortable hotel by the ocean. 

Day 2:Dakar- Sine Saloum Delta ( 150kms)

This morning you will get a chance to be introduced to the tour motorbikes. You’ll get to test the bikes before we depart to the beautiful Senegalese region of Sine Saloum just north of the Gambia. The vast delta of Sine Saloum is where 2 great rivers, Sine and Saloum meet and form sandbanks and small islands. The region is characterised by beautiful landscapes ideal for motorbiking. Dinner and overnight at Faoye Ecolodge or similar. 

Day 3: Siné Saloum - Toubakouta / 150 km

After an early breakfast, it is another day to explore the Sine Saloum delta on motorbikes. We explore the region’s islands, beaches, mangroves trees and the hundreds of bird species that are unique to the Sine Saloum. We ride further through beautiful motorcycling trails before arriving at the south of Siné Saloum towards the Gambia in Toubakouta. Dinner and overnight at a very nice camp in a splendid. natural environment.  

Day 4: Toubakouta – Kaolack – Koba / 240 km

Today, we depart from Toubakouta and ride towards Kaolack through savannah villages and plains. We ride on alternating awesome motorcycling trails with views of landscaoes reminiscent of the great Sahel vast region.This region of Senegal is suitable for livestock rearing, the semi-nomadic Fulani and their livestock crisscross these dry Sahel landscapes offering numerous, sometimes sandy, tracks. We spend the evening in the bush in a very pleasant eco-lodge in Koba.

Day 5: Koba – Ferlo Plain – Dagana / 220 km

Today, the Senegal motorcycle tour departs Koba as we ride towards the Ferlo Plains and finally Dagana. Beautiful riding trails cross the wide open plains of the Sahel, the Ferlo plains and its Fulani camps... Eventually greenery appears at the edge of the majestic Senegal River, we are on the edge of Mauritania, in an awesome setting. We experience wonderful views along the motorcycle tour route, meeting friendly locals along the way. We eventually arrive at the very beautiful lodge at Fort de Dagana, an old colonial building from the 19th century which is our accommodation for the night.

Day 6: Dagana – Diawling National Park – St Louis – Gandiole / 190 km

Today the Senegal motorcycle tour leaves Dagana as we head to St Louis Gandiole through Diawling National Park.We follow the Senegal River from east to west, a contrast of green and ocher... We expect brief encounters with warthogs / jackals in the marshes. We ride through Diawling national park before arriving at Saint Louis. St Louis has a very rich history which makes it a mystical city. We have a chance to Stop at the Hôtel de la Poste where St Exupéry stopped before continuing our motorcycle tour further south until we arrive at a very nice lodge in the heart of Langue de Barbarie’ the national park where we spend the night.  

Day 7- Langue de Barbarié National Park – Lac Rose / 200 km

We depart from Langue de Barbarie’ national park and start our ride towards Lac Rose. Morning ride in a canoe in this haven of peace to observe the thousands of migratory birds… We leave on a motorbike on a route that varies depending on the tide…We ride along the beach which sights of dunes of the Lampoul desert on the horizon. We continue heading south in the footsteps of the first Paris -Dakar before we arrive at Lac Rose! Where we spend the night at a Cozy inn by the lake. 

Day 8: Lac Rose – La Somone (Saly / small coast) / 130 km.

Today is the final leg of our adventure motorcycle tour through Senegal. Morning walk in the village and on the banks of Lake Rose, also called Lake Retba. Lac Rose lake is not an intense pink color all the time due to the presence of variable salt. The salt harvesters’ village is worth the detour. The raid continues for the final stage and reaches the Petite Côte (south of Dakar) via the Somone lagoon. Other sandy tracks crisscross the bush and its numerous baobabs along the Bandia reserve. Arrival at the Somone (near Saly) where we come to the end of our awesome motorcycle adventure through Senegal ! Free evening / Airport transfer, or continuation of your free stay.

End of the service.

If you choose a free night on the evening of Day 8  and a free day on Day 9, we can direct you to hotels / guest houses and service providers according to your wishes (lazy day at the beach (optional excursion to the Bandia reserve (African fauna )...) etc. 

Level: Off-road motorcycle experience is recommended to fully enjoy this motorcycle tour of Senegal. We adapt the motorcycle tour and itinerary to the level of the group. Sometimes accepting rustic conditions linked to the hazards of Africa, the heat, sometimes the dust.

Stages: on average around +/- 150 km/day, the assistance vehicle meets us every evening but does not necessarily take the same route as the motorcycles.

Motorcycle & logistics:- Honda CRF-L300 / or Suzuki 350 DR-SE / Yam 250 TTR, also very suitable for African tracks. (NB: all our motorcycles have a starter)

- Assistance 4X4 driven by our driver/mechanic, transporting personal belongings, supplies and the reserve motorcycle.

Food based on local and imported products. Picnic or local restaurant for lunch, full meal in the evening.
