Uganda Motorcycle Tour Itinerary.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport Uganda.

Arrival at Entebbe Airport in Uganda where you will be met by one of our motorcycle tour representatives.

You will be transferred to your hotel/guest house in Entebbe in our airport shuttle van as motorbikes are not allowed into Entebbe airport. Afternoon/evening is at leisure exploring the Entebbe area which has so many beautiful beaches or you may visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, The Entebbe Zoo or you could go for dinner at one of the many nice restaurants in Entebbe.

Our preferred Uganda motorcycle tour accommodation in Entebbe is The Entebbe Guest House, as it offers great value for money. The  Entebbe guesthouse has 8 large and airy rooms in a splendid garden setting. All the rooms have private ensuite bathroom facilities. The main house hosts Mama Africa Restaurant and bar. 

Day 2: To Kampala and Jinja

After breakfast, you will be briefed about the Uganda motorcycle tour itinerary and activities for the Uganda motorbike safari. You will get to test the tour motorbikes.

Today we start our Uganda motorcycle adventure when we depart from Entebbe and ride through manic Kampala traffic. We leave very early before the traffic gets crazy and use the Entebbe express way through Busega and onward onto the Northern bypass before we get to Kireka and then head to Jinja. We will ride through the serene Mabira Rainforest before we arrive at our accommodation for the night at King fishers resort Jinja which is a stone throw from the source of the Nile and will awesome lake fronts and views of The Nile.

The resort has a bar and nice food. If you prefer a great meal in a restaurant, we shal ride to Black Lantern restaurant or 2 Friends Restaurant in Jinja.

Riding  time: 1½ hours to Kampala + 3 hours to Jinja 

Day 3: To Sipi Falls

After breakfast, it is time to depart from beautiful and quiet Jinja and we continue with our Uganda motorcycle tour to Sipi Falls. Jinja to Sipi Falls is a beautiful 4-5hours motorcycle ride through scenic villages and greenery which characterises most of Uganda’s landscape. Motor riding through Uganda is an absolute joy. We ride past the locals going on about their lives, farming the land and grazing their animals.

Arrival at The Sipi  Falls with waters that gushes through a narrow opening  over the foothills of Mount Elgon, forming a series of waterfalls – these culminate in a spectacular drop, which is surrounded by awesome walking trails and lush green hills.

You will pitch your tent at the simple campsite of Crow’s Nest. The campground is perched on the floor of Mount Elgon and has built in terraces with stunning views of the main falls at Sipi.

For motorcycle tour participants who prefer,  you can hike to the main waterfall.

Motorcycle riding time: 4-5 hours

Day 4: Sipi Falls To Lira

It is time to depart from beautiful Sipi and continue with our Uganda motorcycle tour adventure to Lira one of the bigger towns in Northern Uganda. We ride through Soroti on a beautiful, sealed road through scenic villages, wetlands and swamps until we arrive in Lira. You will love Lira a vibrant and cosmopolitan town with a pure Africa feel. Accommodation and dinner at one of the best hotels in Lira, at Lira Hotel. Basic but functional hotel for the tour.

Motor riding Journey time: 6-7 hours

Day 5: Lira To Murchison Falls National Park

Today the Uganda motorcycle safari leaves Lira as we ride to Murchison Falls National Park via Karuma arriving through the Northern gate of the park. The ride from Lira to Murchison Falls is a very beautiful one through local villages and open plains that characterise most of northern Uganda.

Murchison Falls National Park is perhaps Uganda’s best national park with abundant game and wildlife. It is a beautiful park bisected by the legendary Nile and the awesome Murchison Falls where the Nile gushes and drops through a very narrow gorge in the Rift Valley before violently plunging 45 metres below into a beautiful spectacle which you can witness first hand on a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls.

You will have a chance to ride to the top of the falls and also have game drives in the park in search of the big five, of lion, leopard, elephants, hippos, buffalos, giraffes as well as waterbucks, kobs, warthogs, hartebeest and many other smaller animals.

Motorcycle riding Journey time: 2-3 hours to the gate of Murchison Falls national park

Accommodation: Red Chilli campsite 

Day 6: Game drives  in Murchison Falls National Park.

In the morning we get on our motorcycles and head back into the park where the game drive action takes place.. We shall cross over on a ferry before getting on our motorcycles again and ride through the park in search of the big cats and other wildlife and birds. Murchison Falls National Park is a birder’s paradise with many bird species endemic to the park. Lunch will be at Paraa Safari Lodge, before a 2pm boat cruiser along the Nile, to see wildlife , birds and animals as their come to the banks of the river to drink in the scorching afternoon sun. You will catch a glimpse of plenty of crocodiles, hippos, buffalos, water birds and other wildlife.

The boat cruise culminates at the bottom of the legendary Murchison Falls, before returning to the starting point this time at a faster cruise pace of 1 hr. We return to the boat cruiser launch point where we get re-united with our motorcycles and return to Red Chilli Campsite for the night.

Day 7:  Ride from Murchison Falls Park to Hoima

Today it is time to bid goodbye to Murchison Falls as our Uganda motorcycle tour continues to Hoima through beautiful quiet villages. We ride along steep the rift valley passes with great views of Lake Albert until we arrive in Hoima where we check into a small boutique hotel for the night.

Riding Journey time: 4-5 hours

Day 8:  Ride from Hoima to Kibale Forest National Park

Our  Uganda motorcycle safari tour, today departs from oil city Hoima and proceeds to Kibale Forest National Park, home of chimpanzees in Uganda. The  ride from Hoima to Kibale via Fort Portal is absolutely scenic, riding through vast tea plantations and lush green Ugandan countryside which is typical of most of Western Uganda. Lunch is envisaged in Fort Portal a quiet, laidback clean town.

After lunch it is time to continue with our motorcycle safari to Kibale Forest. The drive from Fort Portal to Kibale will take us about 1 hour through a dense rainforest home to chimpanzees and at least 13 other primates.

Kibale Forest is home to the Red Tailed Monkey, Olive Baboon, Black and White Colobus Monkey, and the Blue Monkey and of course the chimps. Kibale is blessed with abundant bird species endemic to the rift valley. Be sure to spot the Great Blue Turaco here and many other bird species when you go for the Bigodi Swamp walk.  We later check into Chimp’s Nest.

Riding Journey-time: 8 hours

Accommodation: Campsite Primate Lodge Kibale. 

Day 9: Chimpanzee tracking or Bigodi swamp walk and later leave for Murchison Falls National Park.

This morning you can choose from 2 optional excursions:

1) Chimpanzee Tracking or 2) a walk in Bigodi Swamp area.

Chimp Tracking (costs USD 200 per person, including park entrance fees):

You may also participate into the chimpanzee habituation experience or go for a Bigodi Swamp walk. The Bigodi swamp walk takes about 3 hours. During the Bigodi swamp walk you will walk through local villages, and spot a number of animals and primates,The Bigodi swamp is also habitat to well over 200 bird species.

 

In the afternoon, we continue with the Uganda motorcycle tour to Queen Elizabeth N.P. We ride with the mountains of the moon the Rwenzoris in the background until we arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park for a 2 days of absolute motorcycle tour adventure.  Uganda. You may come in contact with animals and wildlife as we ride to the park. You may spot the odd gazelle, warthog, waterbucks and buffaloes.

These animal sighting are a precursor to what awaits you on game drives in the park the following day: plenty of hippos, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, and lions . You may see herds of gazelles and waterbucks, lazy and crocodiles… Uganda is truly the pearl of Africa, gifted and blessed in abundance.

 

We ride and check into our accommodation for the night at Bush Lodge. The accommodation at Bush Lodge is a tent with a bed and eco-toilet with a private outside bathroom with “bush” shower

Bush  lodge is visited by Hippos and Elephants, even Lion might pay a surprise visit.

Evening game drive in the park in search of wildlife and animals.

Riding Journey time: 4 hours

Accommodation: Bush Lodge

 Day 10: Drive to Ishasha in search of the tree climbing lions and onwards to  Bwindi

Day 11: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi(optional if required)

Day 12: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Day 13: Transfer to Lake Mburo

Day 14: Morning game drive safari  and drive to Kampala

Before we depart from Lake Mburo, we shall ride through the park in search of more game. We later depart from Lake Mburo riding to Kampala with a stop over at the equator crossing for photo-ops.

Depending on the time your flight departs, you might still have time to explore Kampala and/or Entebbe.

You will drop the motorbikes at our depot in Namulanda along Entebbe Road and then our driver will take you to Entebbe in our airport shuttle.

This is the end of your Uganda motorcycle tour adventure.

Visa:

A visa for Uganda needs to be obtained prior to arrival at Entebbe airport.

Items to bring:

  • Motorbike gear, boots etc.
  • Mosquito repellent (containing deet);
  • A rain jacket;
  • A jumper/sweater for chilly evenings and mornings on the bikes;
  • Swim wear;
  • Sun glasses;
  • Sun protection;
  • Long sleeved top and long trousers for optional Chimpanzee and Gorilla Tracking;
  • Hiking boots;
  • Binoculars;
  • Flip flops;
  • & of course, don’t forget your camera
